Cooking Food to Survive
Warmth is a basic human need, as is being able to cook food. Both are skills to survive.
The knowledge surrounding wood and firewood, fires, camp cooking, trees, and getting the best from each of these is endless. I can share what I know and some knowledge from old fellas I have known. To this, I have added information about specific trees I have researched. So much rich heritage has been lost with mill
workers, timber workers, steam kiln men, builders of years ago, bush men, and so many early settlers. I hope to preserve at least a few wee gems for your family library.
I’m no superhero when it comes to cooking! But I know how to handle a fire. Cooking on fires has always been instinctive for me; on a stove, not so much.
My husband loves wood, trees, timber, milling, building and cutting firewood in great volumes.
We both feel great comfort and some security when the home fire is burning. It gives a warmth and life that is not found in homes without a fire.
So many basic survival and pioneer skills have been lost. Gather skills from the past to secure a better future.
